Organisational Development and Professional Learning
Jim leads research and innovation related organisational and professional development at the University of Leeds.
Jim has over 10 years of experience in conceiving, designing, delivering and evaluating professional and organisational development interventions for academic staff, professional support staff and postgraduate researchers. In this role Jim advises on and guides the development and implementation of University strategy for researcher development.
Jim’s portfolio of professional and organisational development provision includes: postgraduate researcher (PhD) supervision and examination, personal tutoring, research strategy, applying for research funding, managing research projects, commercial awareness, away-day facilitation, action learning set facilitation.
Prior to joining Organisational Development and Professional Learning at the University of Leeds Jim was a lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at the University where he led research in scientific approaches to engineering design and communicating engineering designs.
Jim was also responsible for teaching in the areas of engineering design and manufacture. As part of his research Jim collaborated with organisations such as Rolls-Royce plc, The Boeing Company, BAE Systems, the Airbus consortium and Parametric Technology Corporation.
Prior to joining the University of Leeds Jim worked for White Young Prentice Royle, a firm of Building Services Consulting Engineers and Vickers Defense Systems.
